POEMS OF BRAJANATH RATH

ଫୁଲକୁ ମାଗିଲି, ଦେଲା ମୋତେ ସିଏ ହସ  ; ଫଳକୁ ମାଗିଲି, ଦେଲା ମୋତା ତା ରସ |
ଗଚ୍ଛକୁ ମାଗିଲି ଦେଲା ମୋତେ ତା ଶୀତଳ ଛାଇ, ନଈକୁ ମାଗିଲି, ଦେଲା ସିଏ ନୀଳକଇଁ
ମଣିଷକୁ ଯେବେ ହାତ ମୁଁ ପାତିଲି, ସେ କହିଲା - କିଛି ନାହିଁ , କିଛି ନାହିଁ !

Asked the flower,  gave me mouthful of laghter
Asked the fruits, gave me  mouthful of juice
Asked the trees, gave me cool of shades
Asked the rivers, gave me little  blue lilies
Asked the man,  told me- there is just nothing !

ଦୂରରୁ ଯାହାକୁ ବଡ  ଭାବୁଥିଲି, ପାଖରୁ ଦେଖିଲି ଛୋଟ
ପାଖ ମଣିଷଟି ବଡ ଦେଖାଗଲା, ଗଲି  ଯେବେ ଦୂର ବାଟ |
Whom I thought big, got small while saw it so near
But, Near one turned big  when I saw it at far |

ଦୂରରୁ ତ ଯିଏ ଛୋଟ ଦିଶୁଥିଲା, ପାଖରୁ ଦିଶିଲା ବଡ
ପାଖ ମଣିଷଟି ଛୋଟ ହୋଇଗଲା, ଗଲି ଯେବେ ବହୁ ଦୂର |
Looked small from a distance but found it so big
But, near one turned small when I saw at far flung.

ଇଟା କଂକ୍ରିଟ୍ ସ୍ବର୍ଗ ଭିତରେ ରହି ବି
ସେ କଣ ଦେଖି ପାରୁଛି
ତୁମର ଯୋଡି ଯାଡି ହୋଇ
ନିବିଡ ଆଲିଂଗନରେ ଠିଆ ହେବାର
ଅଭିନ୍ନ ଓ ଅପରୂପ ଭଂଗୀ ?
ନା ବୁଝି ପାରୁଛି
ତୁମର ଭିଡାଭିଡି ହୋଇ ଜଡିଯିବାର
ଅପୂର୍ବ ଛନ୍ଦର ରହସ୍ୟ ?

ନିଃସଂଗତା ମଧୁଶାଳାରେ
ସେ ଯେମିତି ଆଜି ଜଣେ
ମଧୁଲୁବ୍ଧ ଉଦ୍ଭ୍ରାନ୍ତ ଅତିଥୀ
ଅବା କେଉଁ ଅପେରା ପାର୍ଟିର
ଜଣେ ଉନ୍ମତ୍ତ ଓ ଅସହାୟ
ବିକଳ ବୟସ୍ୟ

Heavenly palace born from brick interwoven
He the king in, doesn't see
The blessed you the bricks together
How, happy you always being together.

He in his parlour of loneliness
Caught in its honey-trap
Or he is an actor
As if lost his balance.
