||| SARAHAD : MoKatha |||

25th Sept '19 Nirvay www.nirvaynews.com publishes this Odia coulmn 'Sarahad' the Boundary line picturing the contexts that needs boundary to honour or dishonour or redraw. It talks of a village man  Ganga that puts his lifestyle that obeys his financial boundary so he doesn't have to depend upon anybody. Early days, a farmer in village used to grow almost what his family needed an viceversa what was need was almost grown in his field. That life was very close to soil so writers of those days named those people 'MatiRa Manisha' - the man of the soil. Life style was scripted in dictate of self-dependence. But when Gangi found smuggling a packet of maggy noodle through Bairagi a neighbour Ganga had to challenge Bairagi with a call to withdraw himself to his boundary, not interfering household of Ganga. As Bairagi didn't then invited altercation that found both rolling on the dust of the village road. But, now the lifestyle in village has indeed crossed that sarahad making village folks vulnerable to financial needs such that they have to seek freebies in exchange of their democratic rights, tha malady of democracy begins there.
Epic mother Sita in Ramayana crossed the sarahad drawn by Laxman leading to her abduction that unfolded into the poetics of saint Tulashidas , Ramayana. Does that mean crossing the sarahad at times beneficial? Had Sita not been abducted, the epic Ramayana probably would have not been written by the sage Balmik. That could be a hypothesis to ponder on sarahad, the boundary lines.
Boundary of nation, border is highly respected and heavily guarded as if all lie on that line. Lives are lost, honours are earned on the boundary lines. The problem multiplies when such boundary lines remain ill-defined like MacMohan line drawn in dead night silence without any thought resulting into two nations to the folly of a colonialist and foolishness of natives of which both the nations India and Pakistan suffer since their births the deformation that challenges both the nations so badly.
But also true, sarahad is redefined. Bangaldesh is born and old sarahad is scrapped for the new. The time got used to this sarahad.  While sarahad offers a safe congenial space for an entity to blossom but nature inherently wants to change. Entity on living within the same sarahad may find the space not enough fertile for the succor it needs so the need of change. But, a change need not be a discard but an expansion. A person on move pushing its sarahad has chance to excel. So each busy in pushing its sarahad. But who does push this expanding Universe ? Did you say God ?

||| MoKatha: Amazon |||

||| MoKatha: Amazon |||
Today on Nirvay news paper this column takes the reader across long time span from the days when village kids use to whirl-play with a folk-rhyme on jackals to today with fire in Amazon jungle. Those the rhyme was teasing jackals running away off thorny bushes on fire. But the bushes used to come back with the breathing time Nature used to get while human were in hands-off mode. Now, the population growth and eyes on development index have made wide spread deforestation. All remained silent when big trees were cut off for having wide highways. Planting ornamental plants does not serve the purpose. Old days planting peepal and banyan trees and marrying them were dharma of a life. But now
when people love to have bonsai plants living rooms and living rooms in hanging dwellings then the goddess of forests look away. Everyday Amazon burns not only the day you find with roaring tweetrites and socialites on network postings on Amazon fire.
The column takes up this remembering burning on Kahandab forest in epics of Mahabharat. Laments on fats depletion of green canopy on earth fearing of the loss of Amazon jungle while the word may be for eservices, that will be the millennium confusion to disaster ahead.
Each of us we know what to do, but when to do and how fast each of us do is your choice that planet Earth looks at with eager and concern.

||| BHAKTI SHAKTI |||

MoKatha on 4th Sept. '19

Bhakti (Devotion) needs to give Shakti (power) to make full of life as India saw in its Suvarna Yuga (Golden Period) in the past. So the column 'Bhakti Shakti' for your review ...

The power in devotion "Bhakti Shakti" is in MoKatha today on Nirvay Odia newspaper 4th Sept. '19. The column starts with the devotion monks and saints
aspire for. The aspiration to know and to be with the creator the Absolute
drives them to different types of Bhakti viz. Prema Bhakti, Gyana Bhakti - to
follow path of love, path of knowledge. While some sages follow Sunyabad
(Formless God with a kind of nihilism) the ordinary takes God in different forms
for different purposes, thus adding Bhakti to worldly returns. Some saw
Bhakti with parents and teachers and elders. Purans have may examples on it.
Contemporary neo-gurus being rated on social media draw Bhakti from their
followers. Finally, the devotion has reached at persons from the Absolute God.
What you call it 'degeneration' or 'regeneration' is your choice.
But another devotion that 's 'desh bhakti' the devotion to motherland has become an issue of contention for so named liberals in the name rights to
individuals engaged in rabble rousing. True is the devotion of Baji Rout the boy
on the boat who raised the first defiance to British colonist without fearing
bullets landing on his chest. So also is Jayee Rajguru who led the first mutiny
against British colonist. It's not absurd now for all of us to look for Desh Bhakti
to build national characters, required most for making of citizens for the country
as well as the world; it's to be noted that both complement unlike some rogue states patronizing terrorism in the name patriotism and religion which turns to
chauvinism to despise.
It's true of our illustrious ex-president dr. Kalam  who as a person deep
religious and from devotion drew power of missiles for the safety of the
nation.
Bhakti (Devotion) needs to give Shakti (power) to make full of life as India
saw in its  Suvarna Yuga (Golden Period)  in the past.
So the column 'Bhakti Shakti' for your review ...
