JOY OF DESCEND

A meditation of difference
That was an awakening of difference
Not only for self elevation
But for others -
To sing together the song of Creation.

Heart did not flutter
Not there was gruel to win
Zealousy didn't prevail
But the search was for only Truth
To accommodate, to understand
To share the pain of sufferers
- He the king Bhagirath.

Engrossed in deep meditation
To awaken
Not like Dharmaraj Yudhisthir
Forgetting all for the self.
Bhagirath rose up and up
But to descend
with The Ganges
To sing with the song of Creation.
The Awakening and the mediation
Not only for the ascend
But for the joy to descend!

Descend of river Ganges with the help of King Bhagirath reminds me of Raghuvansis. It is an enviable creation. It adds another feather in your cap.You can now publish in English which may create flutter amongst contemporary (English)poets.

"Joy of Descend" is a very beautiful poem. Yudhistira and Bhagiratha are Chandravanshi and Suryavanshi respectively. You have beautifully created a fusion between different Yugas(Tretaya and Dwapara).Through your poem it gives us insight to have perseverence to make hard task easy-- like Bhagiratha bringing river Ganga to mother Earth.

Sir,

In contrast to Dharmaraja's and Yudhishter's image, King Bhagirath's selfless sacrifice to get ganga for the people, is captured in a nutshell in this poem.

A very nice and great poem- it sounds like a beautiful and motivating song- if nice music is composed, i believe that everyone will be singing this song.

Sir,

This is my interpretation of your poem.

King Bhagirath underwent penance so that his forefathers would rest in peace. In that, he did not waver though there was nothing called personal gain. This he did, because he understood the pain of his forefathers, he thought it his duty and did it with happiness. That happiness is his ascend.

Yudhistra looked at righteousness with reference to self. He never moved away from that path and that was the reason for his elevation. But Bhagirath in the process of bringing Ganga to earth not only understood the joy of elevation but also the joy in descending down to earth with the Ganga - he did meet obstacles when Ganga flowed down to earth until she met the sea, but he succeeded.

So, somewhere it meant that being righteous, good and hardworking gives a person the joy of seeing himself elevated. But then, using the same for common good is also joy, the joy of spreading, the joy of descend.

In the life of every human being there are ups and downs. People work to achieve a lot, and achieving gives happiness, the ascend, whether material or spiritual. Many people reach very high positions, experiencing the joy of ascending, and then use that position so as to benefit others, thereby experiencing the joy of descend. Like a provider, who works for oneself and the family - that is elevation. And then, there is joy in seeing the fruits in terms of the happiness of one's family, the joy of descend.

I also liked your poem "Joy Of Descend". So nicely you have compared Yudhisthir and Bhagirath, probably for the first time in Oriya Poetry. I regard you that you have no bias about Yudhisthir. Bhagiratha has got a bolder expression in your writing than his normally accepted image. Your writing is very powerful Rushi.

JOY OF DESCEND: What a superb realization! Joy of ascend is for search of truth and creation only for self-elevation. Joy of descend is for sharing pains and singing the song of creation along with the sufferers.

It is indeed a beautiful poem wherein you emphasized the nobility of descending and giving (a new idea so wonderfully portrayed through Bhagirath) Outwardly, the purpose may be for MOksha of his forefathers, but his stupendous parisrama bestowed the divine gift of Ganga to the common people.

Congratulations
