STANDING ON THE EDGE OF COMPUTING
STANDING ON THE EDGE OF COMPUTING
Hrushikesha Mohanty
5th June '21, 11am: Zoom Link at the end
You are cordially Welcome to :
ABSTRACT
This (online) talk entitled 'Standing on the edge of computing'
is not really ofcomputing but of its reflection where the physical
world meets the cosmicworld and the world model of one is played
on another to find out how one emulates the other or wonderfully
both are the same.
I will reflect upon the above using the paradigm of world modelling
in computingand stanzas of Stuti Chintamani by Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoie,
the saint poet and Adi Shankaracharya !
The talk will make an attempt to unveil the beautiful minds of
saints and computing scientists who spin the worlds of concepts
...................... a personal note .........................
After the talk I felt gratifying at the Divine for making the
audience so interested in the topic.
A great saint poet Bhima Bhoie, an illiterate tribal blind man who
lived for just 45 years left the world with indelible imprints in
society as a reformer, poet, philosopher and an= humanist. Wish I
can talk more on the saint in future.

How a piece of information gets hidden / changed and transmoitted
across the Globe so the truth never may reappear as it was in the
war of Mahabharat, it was not clear for Guru Dronacharjya who was
that Aswathamma killed in the war, as the Sri Krishna put the message
in muddy sound waves of the war field on belowing his conch shell so
the truth remained hidden; so now it appears truth of the orgin of the
Covid-19 virus will remain hidden behind talks,cross-talks and half-talks.

that has touch of the Divine most required to shape of a child in
growing to a fullsome indvidual with glory of Divine to wade through the
worldly mess and to reach at the pot of bliss the life carries on Earth;
Take out your kids to the terrace, switch off lights and give them a
telescope to scan the sky and let them dance as the stars twinkle.

This MoKatha column is published on 5th May 21 Nirvay Odia nespaper www.nirvaynews.com
The column talks of kuta scheming to get your interest done with. A scheming person
can be as ruthless as Shakuni of Mahabharata. But, having niti in kuta i.e. kutniti
is a different kind scheming that doesn't violate lakshmanrekha of humanity dharma. Kutniti
i.e. diplomacy is another kind where the dharma is two folds due to the Nation and Humanity.
Kutanigyan, a diplomat has to decide the priority of these two as the time demands. KutaNiti
i.e. diplomacy is under taste in pandemic particulalry in vaccine business. How much niti and
how much business will be there puts the Nations with vaccine at a dharmasankat i.e.
a serious ethical question. Friends (Odia knowing) please read the column with spices, the
quotes and anecdotesfrom scriptures and modern Odia writing style of an NRO, any gone out

28th April '21 Nirvay Odia newspaper MoKatha on AkhaDa.
AkhaAda in a place at the solitary end of a village where
youngs make their evenings. It was there before. A small mud
house built by villagers were for boys to practice
open-air opera.
But Akhada came in medieval times to upkeep dharma from
the cruel mogul invaders who killed Hindus, terrorised,
broken temples and tortured non-muslims with heavy taxation.
Sadhus turned soldiers for guarding the Dharma. Now moderns
tell them unkempt uncivilised forgettign the community was
among the first freedom fighters. Now even many educated you
may find among those Sadhus. They are given their due respect
in sah-shnan in Ganga.
The MoKatha goes with narratives of yesterday Akhada to medieval
Akhada. Wish you will love it to put few comments !

Communication now a subject of study for forceful making of one's points but what our sheers tell Bachanika Tapa, talk on meditation i.e. talk less and talk truth are forgotten though for convenience still at times it makes extremely expensive to the self and the society. The reality about the words is its impact is derived from its brevity and orgin that's when streams from the stae of poiusity. It's not to impress upon others but needs to look inside before talking does the words come from deep within from solace and slitude of mind and serenity of the body .Words due to jugalbandi of mind and body are the words are the words to stream !

ENIGMA OF OUMUAMUA: FIRST INTERSTELLAR OBJECT IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM
Prof. Alok Patnaik, KIIT DU, BBSR
On Google Meet 10th April 7 pm IST
Link for online meet : meet.google.com/fie-fjsy-wqd
Query if any: tietalks2020@gmail.com
Welcome you to this exciting talk that will take you across the deep space
to discover the beauty of our expanding universe, that has been enticing
starting from Seers & Sages to Scientists & Literateurs.
The speaker Prof. Arun Patnaik a Master in Physics, IIT Kharagpur,
PhD, TIFR Mumbai hopped around the globe for sky gazing at various labs
in Europe and North America, with a passion for understanding the universe.
He spent quite a good number of years abroad and now settled down with a professor position in KIIT, an Institute of Eminence, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
ABSTRACT
On October 19, 2017, the first interstellar object, ‘Oumuamua (mean ‘scout’ in Hawaiian language), was discovered by the Pan-STARRS survey.
Surprisingly, our first interstellar guest appeared to be weird and unlike anything we have seen before.
There are six peculiar properties of this visitor.
- such an interstellar object should not have been discovered
- originated from a special frame of reference
- its velocity is unusual
- reflected sunlight varied by a factor of 10 in a period of 8h => unusually elongated object
- must be a shiny object, its temperature did not increase at close passage to sun
- it is not a comet, no tail observed - it is like an asteroid, but unlike any asteroid of our solar system
In contemplating the possibility of an artificial origin, we should keep in mind what Sherlock Holmes said: “when you have excluded the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”
The velocity of Oumuamua suggests that there must be a push from the radiation pressure of the sunlight, called lightsail. However, for the lightsail to work, Oumuamua must be less than a mm, but size of 20m.
In late 2018 Prof. Avi Loeb and his co-author Shmuel Bialy, a Harvard postdoctoral fellow, published a paper in the Astrophysical Journal Letters arguing that ‘Oumuamua had been nothing less than humanity’s first contact with an artifact of extraterrestrial intelligence.
Obviously such a claim did get the attention of journalists but not so much from the scientific community.
In this presentation, we will discuss the details of observations of Oumuamua and the hypothesis of Loeb and Bialy as an evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence.
